Freaks & Geeks Triumphant

f%26g.jpgIf you watched the 1999 NBC series Freaks & Geeks when it first came on, and you're not just lying about it to seem cool, congratulations, because your patience is paying off. First Linda Cardellini and James Franco hit it big. Then Seth Rogen and Jason Segel. Even little John Francis Daley is all grown up and starring on Bones. And now Jay Baruchel (who wasn't on F&G but starred on the equally mistreated Undeclared, which was basically F&G: The College Years) is Tropic Thunder's secret-secret weapon, and Samm Levine was just cast in Inglorious Bastards. (Or Inglourious Basterds, if Tarantino gets his way.)

Now they just need to find something for Martin Starr to do. His bit parts in Knocked Up and Walk Hard were great, but he can do so much more. He was the breakout star of Freaks & Geeks, or at least he would've been if NBC had believed in the show.

By now Bill Haverchuck would be in his 20s in the early '90s. I'd like to think he moved to Seattle, grew his hair out, and started a grunge band. The man is a born performer.
