Cartoons are fun to watch on the television
Remember the Buffy cartoon that never happened? But then a 3-minute clip of it leaked on YouTube a few weeks ago? You know, the one where Buffy jumped off the roof of a building and spin-kicked a vamp in the teeth. And it had all the actors from the live-action show doing the voices, except for the one. (She's too busy making Scooby-Doo 3, or a remake of some crappy Japanese horror flick.)
Well, it's looking like the leak might not have been an accident. The MTV Movies Blog says Joss Whedon and Jeph Loeb are talking about bringing the cartoon back from the dead never-alive:
"The best Buffy stories are ones of resurrection," Joeb said. "Everything still exists — the designs, the scripts. It's such a 'no-duh' project, so why the hell not? All you need is to draw it. Eight years ago, there was no fascination with 'Family Guy' or 'Robot Chicken,' but there's an audience now that could drive to it. You can't stand in the way of pop culture."
Whedon's got some clout after Dr. Horrible, right? There's gotta be somebody who'd be willing to air this.
P.S. Here's why that one girl didn't participate:
"I remember the pitch to me about the cartoon was like, 'She can turn into things and have magical powers.' To me, that wasn't what Buffy was about. To me, Buffy was a real girl. These were metaphors for real demons. This was about how, in high school, the demons of high school literally become these monsters. So I'm not sure why you'd make an animated show. And no one showed me a script."
