HeathLedger.jpgI don't see anything online yet, but Fox News, MSNBC, and CNBC are reporting that he was found dead in his apartment in Manhattan about 90 minutes ago, "surrounded by pills." Holy crap. (Thanks to TVsHenry for the tip.)

P.S. The NYT is reporting it.

P.P.S. As Alan Sepinwall points out, earlier today the Associated Press was defending itself for having obits on hand for under-30 celebrities. Well, so much for that debate.

P.P.P.S. Choose Your Own Adventure: It was an overdose. No wait, it was pneumonia. He was in Mary-Kate Olsen's apartment. No, it was his own apartment. He was on the floor, er, in bed. There were pills scattered around, and also there were no pills scattered around. Because you wouldn't want to wait for the facts...

Now that sucks. He really was talented, like actually talented in a way people don't often mean when they call an actor talented. And further suck, he has a kid, I think, or two.

I was always hoping that we'd eventually get past the drug OD's that plagued so many of the brightest from the 60's and 70's. Sadly, the curse lives on.

Such a talent. Sitting here tonight Larry King, Greta Van Cesspool, all the tabloid shows. Just speculating. I know that's what they do. But still let the body get cold.

It's what we're doing too, PowWow, just on a lesser scale.

And I agree- part of me always thinks "this is not my business. I should look away". But, just as that part of me ramps up and begins its lecture, the curious/gossipy part of me barges in and beats it up, screaming "Ohmygodohmygodohmygod didjyouhearabout HEATHLEDGER?ohmygodohmygod". Truth is, you're here talking about it with a warm corpse too.

And I sat there watching the damn shows too. While telling myself "At least I'm not doing that." But I was.
