You can never go back, but that's why there's Youtube

December 1980! It's kind of heartbreaking to watch this, knowing what would happen to them in just a few years. Looks like it cost £20 to make and took 20 minutes to film, Sting actually mocks his own pretensions (at one point he mouths "Rapes you?", like "WTF?"), and they look like they're still friends having fun. Plus, I never realized how much Sting used to look like River Phoenix, or vice versa. The camera Stewart Copeland is holding is the one he used to film all the stuff that eventually ended up in Everyone Stares.

Here's the promo pic for their reunion tour:

They do look pretty fit for a bunch of old codgers. Andy Summers is 64 goddamn years old! They'll need a separate tour bus just to carry all their prescriptions. I'm one to talk, I'll be lucky not to be breathing from a tube at their age (7 years from now).

What happened to them in just a few years? Everybody got laid, they got to keep the money, and they can still get seated quickly in restaurants... What went wrong?

They ended up hating each other and stopped making great music together. Unless you want to try and defend Sting's solo career?

He followed his dream of making Lifetime Music For Women and got to keep all the money and crazy groupie sex (speculation) for himself. You got a problem with that?

Boy, Dennis the Menace's dad looks pretty good for his age.
