How to kill DVD "piracy"
JP Rangaswami, who's a big shot board member of an investment bank in London (read: not some random geek like the ones I usually quote) blogs today about DVD "piracy":
Chinese audiences now get legal DVDs earlier than in the US, for about a twentieth of the US price. Yup, that would do it. That would kill “piracy”.Makes you think a bit about what causes “piracy” in the first place. I think I would like DVDs at a twentieth of the price and released two weeks after the film hits the big screen. I look forward to the next unsightly mess, as there are attempts made to stop the grey exports.
